Image Metadata Viewer
Shows the hidden data inside a photo: camera, date, GPS location, editing software and AI-generation markers.
Runs in your browser. The file or text you give it is not uploaded. Free, no account.
How it works
You have a photo and want to know what it carries besides the picture. Drop it in and the camera, date, GPS coordinates and editing software are listed. If coordinates exist, you get a warning that anyone you send the file to can read them, and you can download a copy with the metadata taken out.

Drop in an image. The file is read in your browser and every metadata block is decoded: EXIF, GPS, XMP and the text chunks of a PNG.
- 2
If the photo carries coordinates, they are shown with a warning: anyone you send the file to can read them.
- 3
Markers left by image generators and editing tools, and any content-credential record, are listed when present.
- 4
For a JPEG or PNG you can download a copy with the metadata taken out. The picture data is copied as it is, so nothing is re-compressed and the colour profile is kept.
What it does not do
Missing markers prove nothing: metadata is removed by most messaging apps and can be edited. This tool reports what a file says about itself, not whether a picture is real.
The clean copy is offered for JPEG and PNG. For other formats, converting the image removes the metadata.
When a source is busy or a site does not answer, this tool says so. It never fills the gap with a guess.
Questions
The photo has GPS coordinates. Who can see them?
Anyone who has the file. Coordinates live inside the image file, not in a separate sidecar, so they travel with it. Every metadata block is decoded here, including EXIF and GPS. If you plan to post or send the photo, download the copy without metadata that this page offers and send that one.
The metadata panel is empty. Does that mean the photo is untouched?
No. Missing markers prove nothing. Messaging apps strip metadata and anyone can edit what remains, so an empty result means the file carries nothing readable here, not that the picture is unedited. This tool reports what a file says about itself, not whether a picture is real.
How do I remove the location before I post the photo?
For a JPEG or PNG, press "Download a copy without metadata". The camera, date, software and location data are taken out and the picture itself is not re-compressed, so it looks exactly the same. The colour profile is kept. Do this after any editing, because editors write new metadata. Open the copy here again to confirm the coordinates are gone.
