Image Translator
Reads the text in an image and translates it into the language you choose.
Runs in your browser. The main work runs in your browser. Only the step named below is sent to our server, and it is not stored. Free, no account.
How it works
Someone sends you a photo with words you cannot read: a menu, a sign, a screenshot. This tool reads the text inside your browser, so the picture is not uploaded, then sends the extracted text for translation. You can correct a misread word before translating. The translation appears as text next to the original.
- 1
The text is read from the image inside your browser, so the picture itself is not uploaded.
- 2
The extracted text is then sent to a hosted translation model and the translation is shown next to the original.
- 3
Correct the recognised text before translating if a word was misread.
What it does not do
The translation is shown as text. It is not painted back onto the image.
Up to 3,000 characters per run, and translation has a shared daily capacity.
Machine translation is for understanding. Have anything that matters checked by a person.
When a source is busy or a site does not answer, this tool says so. It never fills the gap with a guess.
Questions
Does this tool upload my image?
Recognition happens in your browser, so the picture itself is not uploaded. Only the extracted text is sent to a translation model on our server. The translation is returned as text and shown next to the original. If a word was read wrongly, correct it before translating: the model translates what you send.
Why is the translation not written onto the image?
The result is text next to the original, not a new picture with the words replaced. Painting translated text back onto an image would need the original layout, fonts and spacing to line up, and this tool does not do that. Copy the text out and place it where you need it.
Is machine translation good enough to publish?
Treat it as a way to understand text, not as finished copy. Machine translation can misread tone, names and technical terms, so have anything that matters checked by a person before you publish it. One run handles up to 3,000 characters, and translation has a shared daily capacity.
