Plagiarism Checker
Searches the web for sentences from your text, opens the pages it finds and shows which sentences appear there word for word.
We fetch the page for you. Our server fetches the public address you enter and reads the response. Nothing you enter is stored. Free, no account.
How it works
You have text and you need to know whether parts of it already sit on the web. This tool searches up to six sentences as exact phrases, opens the pages it finds, then compares every sentence of your text word for word. Matches get a link to the page. Two texts can also be compared with each other.
- 1
Up to six distinctive sentences, spread across your text, are searched on the web as exact phrases.
- 2
The pages those searches return are opened and read. Every sentence of your text is then compared with those pages word for word.
- 3
A matched sentence is highlighted with a link to the page it appears on. You can also compare two texts with each other directly, which runs in your browser.
What it does not do
A match identifies shared wording, not proof of plagiarism. No match means "not found on the pages we opened", not proof of originality.
Copying that has been reworded is not detected, nor are sources behind a login or absent from search indexes.
Up to 3,000 words per check.
When a source is busy or a site does not answer, this tool says so. It never fills the gap with a guess.
Questions
Does no match mean my text is unique?
No. A match shows shared wording, not proof of plagiarism. No match only means the sentence was not found on the pages the tool opened. Reworded copying is not detected, and neither are pages behind a login or pages missing from search indexes. Treat a clean result as one signal, not proof.
How much text can I check at once?
Up to 3,000 words per check. The tool searches up to six distinctive sentences spread across your text as exact phrases, opens the pages those searches return and compares every sentence with them. Longer documents need splitting into parts, and fewer sentences searched means thinner coverage of a long document.
Can I compare two documents I already have?
Yes. Pasted side by side, two texts are compared directly with each other. That runs in your browser, so the text does not leave your machine for that step. Useful for checking a rewrite against the original before you publish it.
