Sitemap URL Extractor

Reads a sitemap or sitemap index and lists URLs within the disclosed file and URL limits.

We fetch the page for you. Our server fetches the public address you enter and reads the response. Nothing you enter is stored. Free, no account.

How it works

You have a sitemap and need the full list of URLs inside it, including child sitemaps within the run limits. Paste an address or a domain. The tool reads robots.txt, follows up to 40 sitemap files, unpacks gzip files, and shows each URL with its last-modified date, a breakdown by section, and warnings for files over the protocol limits.

  1. 1

Enter a sitemap address or just a domain. For a domain we look in robots.txt and at the usual locations.

  2. 2

Sitemap indexes are followed to their children, and gzip-compressed sitemaps are unpacked.

  3. 3

You get every URL with its last-modified date, a breakdown by section, and warnings for files that break the protocol limits of 50,000 URLs or 50 MB. Export as CSV or a plain list.

What it does not do

  • Up to 40 sitemap files and 60,000 URLs per run; the first 20,000 are shown and exported.

  • It lists what the sitemap declares. It does not check each URL's status: use the status checker for that.

When a source is busy or a site does not answer, this tool says so. It never fills the gap with a guess.

Questions

Why does my sitemap show only the first 20,000 URLs?

Each run accepts up to 40 sitemap files and 60,000 URLs. The first 20,000 URLs are shown and exported, so a larger sitemap is read but not listed in full. Split the sitemap into smaller files, or run the tool on one child sitemap at a time.

Does it check whether each URL returns 200?

No. It lists what the sitemap declares. It does not check the status of each URL, so a URL in the list may be a 404 or a redirect. Use a status checker for that.

What does the last-modified date mean in the results?

It is the date the sitemap gives for that URL, taken from the lastmod tag. It is not a measurement of when the page last changed, because the tool does not visit the page. A missing date means the sitemap gave none.
