Favicon Generator

Turns your logo into every icon file browsers and phones ask for, plus the tags, in one ZIP.

Runs in your browser. The file or text you give it is not uploaded. Free, no account.

How it works

Your logo is a square image and your site needs a favicon, an Apple touch icon and Android icons. This tool resizes your upload in the browser and hands back one ZIP: favicon.ico at 16, 32 and 48 px, a 180 px apple-touch-icon, 192 and 512 px Android icons, a web manifest and the HTML tags to paste.

  1. 1

Upload a square logo (PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP). It is resized in your browser with high-quality resampling.

  2. 2

You get favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 px images inside, a 180 px apple-touch-icon, 192 and 512 px icons for Android, and a web manifest.

  3. 3

The ZIP includes the HTML tags to paste into your head. Optional padding and a background colour handle logos that touch the edges.

What it does not do

  • Start from an image of at least 512 × 512 px. A small source cannot be made sharp.

  • Detailed logos become unreadable at 16 px. A simple mark works best.

When a source is busy or a site does not answer, this tool says so. It never fills the gap with a guess.

Questions

What size image should I upload?

Start from a square image of at least 512 × 512 px. A smaller source cannot be made sharp. PNG, JPG, SVG and WebP all work. If your logo touches the edges, add padding and a background colour in the options before you generate the files.

Why does my favicon look unreadable in the browser tab?

The tab shows the 16 px version, and a 16 px canvas cannot hold much detail. A logo with thin lines or small text turns to mush. A simple mark with strong shapes and few colours survives the shrink. Starting from at least 512 × 512 px keeps the downscale clean.

Where do the files go in my site?

Put favicon.ico in the root of your site so requests for /favicon.ico resolve. Put the other icon files wherever you like, then paste the HTML tags from the ZIP into the head of your pages. The web manifest lists the Android icons and is linked from the same block of tags.
